Jesus did not leave us guessing. He gave us a clear picture of what it looks like to live as a child of God, not a list of rules, but a way of being. To walk The Way is to embody and continually strive to excel in everything He taught us.
Based on my own research, experience and seeking to truly follow God with all my heart, here are the 7 pillars of THE WAY I believe fully represent the
Gospel of Jesus Christ.
First, Foremost, and Most of All. This is where everything begins and everything returns. Jesus called it the greatest commandment — to love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. Not a divided love. Not a convenient love. Everything. When God is first, everything else falls into its right place.
The second commandment flows directly from the first. To truly love God is to truly love the people He made. Not a surface kindness — a sacrificial, active, deliberate love that sees others the way He sees them and treats them the way you would want to be treated. This love is how the world knows we are His.
We are called to be set apart, to resist the pull of the flesh, and to flee from what separates us from Him. This is not about perfection; it is about pursuit — a daily, intentional turning toward God and away from everything that dishonors Him. The warrior who truly loves the Father does not treat grace as a license to sin, but as the power to overcome it.
God so loved the world that He gave. Giving is not an obligation — it is the language of love in action. To walk The Way is to hold our resources, our time, our talents, and our treasure with an open hand, trusting God as the source of all things and freely giving as we have freely received.
Blessed are the merciful — for they shall obtain mercy. Jesus was moved with compassion everywhere He went. He did not look past the broken; He stopped for them. To walk The Way means letting His heart become our heart — grieving what grieves Him, restoring what the enemy has stolen, and extending the same grace we ourselves have received.
Jesus did not come to be served — He came to serve. As His followers, we are called to the same posture. Service is not a program or an event — it is a way of life. The warrior who walks The Way looks for every opportunity to lay down comfort and lift up others in the name of Christ.
The last command Jesus gave before ascending to heaven was not a suggestion — it was a mandate. Go. Make disciples of all nations. The Good News is too good to keep to ourselves. Every child of God is a carrier of the Gospel — in their conversations, their neighborhoods, their workplaces, their lives. The Way leads somewhere. We are called to show others the path.
